I'm a 25yr female that has had crohns for 10 yrs now. I have have 3 resections and a 2 fistulas. I have been on humira now for a year because my body built anti-bodies to the remicade. Well in July I started feeling nauseated, pain and the big D. So my doc put me on a higher does of 6pm. Nausea got worse so did the pain. Went and got the works done .....EDG and everything YAY Im in remission but still feel sick ALL the time. The pain is different from my crohns pain and its in URQ and goes into my shoulder. So I went into my family doc he thought it could be my gallbladder and he had me get a hida scan done it came back at 48% and they said that was borderline. Well that was in Aug here it is Jan and Im still feeling sick and in pain......went back to my doc last week and he sent me to a surgeon. Surgeon ordered another Hida scan.....the test came back now at 42% and he said thats normal and I dont need it out. GGGGRRRRR. Anyone else have this problem ....I mean what else could it be if I have had my work up and its not my crohns

I know what your saying to a degree, I have been having extensive pain in my ribs, the whole chest, my shoulders, neck and face with sections swelling randomly, I have had mass's removed and biopsied to show nothing, doc's are baffled, 3 years now of pain in my chest etc and now they do a bone scan (had xrays before - negative) and the tech took the images to the doc on staff, then came back and said the doc saw something that needed a finer picture of my chest, now I gotta wait to find out what that could be, if anything....

And of corse theres the crohns, which despite all the meds (starting humira soon) still is dibilating me to being housebound, I am trying the BTVC book, but havent been on it long enough to say for sure if it works. I will say switching to salads for the last couple days has helped some.

I to get bounced around the hospital with endlessly useless xrays, when a ct or mri is needed, or in this case a bone scan years after I complained.....

Why is this, cause every doctor has blown off my chest complaints as crohns referred pain...

go figure, try to take control is all I can say or make a doctor change if ya have to, go with your gut (no pun intended) and keep pestering them to fix you....

I was having URQ pain on-and-off. I believe it was Crohn's related, because although my liver is/was enlarged, I was told that should not necessarily cause pain.

When I was looking for causes, I also found something called Sphincter of Oddi dysfunction:

The symptoms are very similar to a gallbladder attack. But it is generally diagnosed only after having your gallbladder removed.

If the area feels tender, costochondritis (inflammation of cartilage) is also possible.

Have you been tested for H. pylori (ulcer)?

Have you had a CT or MRI of your abdomen recently?
Best wishes, I hope you get answers soon.

Hmm, somehow I can relate to this. Did they do a small bowel follow-through, to check for a stricture lower in the gut? I seem to be getting discomf after eating assoc with gas build-up. The more distended, the more pain. And I get chest pain (R side) mostly with a deeper breath, but sometimes just get an ache. I am being treated for a stricture in the bile duct, but feel that maybe a stricture found in my old anastamosis site is the culpret. Of course my GI just said there was no blockage, which I knew, and the x-ray SBFT report said 7.5 cm. length was narrowed. This DD stinks, wish we could walk into a total body scanner to see our insides.

I hope you get an answer to your pain soon - It's so frustrating going through all the hoops, and no answers. We tend to know when something is not right, and often are proven right down the road. In the meantime, we go through being treated like we're hypochondriacs if they can't find anything right away. I've found that the medications we take and the disease itself can cause diverse problems, that aren't easily recognizable.

Hang in there!

My love and prayers are with you. You know your body best and if you feel something is wrong then it probably is. I remember one ambulance attendant telling my daughter who was having gallbladder problems to exagerate her pain. scream ,cry , complain, complain. He said those people got seen to much faster and were taken much more seriously than the less "vocal" patients. He also told us to call the ambulance if she was in pain more than one hour.
She had one huge gallbladder stone , it was months before she saw a surgeon and weeks before her surgery was wasn't unitl she collapsed from the pain and I had to call an ambulance that they things moved much more quickly.
Hang in there.... Hope you have answers and relief to your pain soon.

Well sorry I haven't updated you all on whats been going on. Well on Friday I went and saw another surgeon, he was awesome. He knows his stuff and he said that he didn't care what the test said cause it needed to come out. So this Tuesday he did a laparoscopic on me ....i could tell that he knew his stuff and he really cared about me. He had me stop eating after midnight on Sat and then on sunday I did a bowel prep. Monday I had to take flagyl......
Well surgery took 2 1/2hrs, it took him 2 hours just to get through my adhesions, he also found a small hernia that he took care of .....well then comes the gallbladder he said that he is 100% sure that was my problem he said that is was very inflamed and very diseased.
I was so happy when I woke up in post op ....I stuck my hands under my blankets to feel right away if he had to open me all the way up. YAY he didnt have to but he did make 6 tiny cuts thats better then a 7'' one. I had to stay in the hospital one day but now Im at home trying to get along the best that I can.
I will keep of guys updated!!!

I am so glad that they finally helped you!  I was feeling so bad for you reading all of the previous posts!! :-)  Before I was dx with crohns they kept telling me it was my gall bladder and then then the hida scan came back normal...I was SO frustrated.  Needless to say I still have my gall bladder, but now that I have a dx of crohns and on meds, I am doing better!  Keep us are in my thoughts.
