I'm assuming you guys are experts on this topic so I thought I'd post it here.  I had a colonoscopy this morning, ate & drank a bit and since then I still have rancid D and am at times not making it to the bathroom.  Does it normally take the bowels a bit to firm things up again?  Dr. said he couldn't get the tube around a corner in my bowel, any idea why?  Also, is bleeding normal after biopsies were taken?

Thanks,

Softy

My last colonoscopy was awful. The doc got to a stricture and tried to get through. While this was going on, I woke up screaming in pain. I was all inflammed there. It didn't show up until I had a CT scan weeks later.

I've had several, and it does take a day or two to get things back to normal. I've never bled, but I've heard that some do.

This happened to me a couple of weeks ago after mine. I had several! It was awful! You could have bleeding just from the inflammation. Did you get the report back? If you bleed a lot and this is NOT normal for you call your Doctor.

I would try the B R A T diet for 2 days!

Bread (white) toasted and plain
White Rice
Applesauce
Bananas

And see if that helps! It should and usually does!

As far as him not getting around it is usually because of a narrowing from the inflammation!

Good Luck! Please e mail me with questions!

After my scopes, I normally don't go for a couple of days because of getting cleaned out before hand.

Me too. After my scopes I didn't eat a lot being that the colon cleanse leaves you on the toilet for a long time. I wasn't looking forward to "going" again and ate a few light meals. I didn't bleed after mine but my doctor did say that it does happen sometimes after taking a biopsy. White bread, white rice, apple sause and bananas are the way to go.

After a colonoscopy you may have some loose stool as you just did the "big prep" and if they took a biopsy you may have some minor spots of blood.  You should have received written instructions from your GI with when to eat and what as well as what is normal and when to call the GI Doctor.  If you start to have pain, bleeding or a fever, call you GI immediately.

We are fortunate to have a GI Doc that calls everyone of her scopes the evening of the scope to ask you how you are?  This gives you a chance to ask the question you were maybe to drugged to remember what you wanted to ask.  :) She is one of a special breed. Take care and hope your biopsy is good news.
