have just come back to university after being home for a month
seen my specialist back home after having two months of extreme pain and vomiting on the toilet, and he said i may be blocked up further up in my colon.
was given laxatives to flush me out and then laxitives to take when im in pain.also put on another course of pred.
had three weeks of amazing remission, but have just vomited for the first time on the toilet and the pain is coming back, the laxative doesnt seem to help.
im on asacol four a day and azathioprine 150mg per day.just gone down to 5mg of pred a day so will soone be off them.
anyone know what this is?have a got a stricture?whats causing the pain?
thank you

matt, Hi and I am sorry you are sick.........I would really like you to call your physician back home and see if he wants to do any medication adjustment or if he suggests you see a GI where you go to school.

Take care my friend.

Agreed with stkitt that you should call your doc. It takes awhile (months) for azathioprine to kick in so you might not be ready to go off pred. In fact, your pred and/or Asacol might have to be increased.
Have you had a colonoscopy? Endoscopy? SBFT?

when i saw my specialist when i was at home he didnt seem too concerned about it which worried me.

i have not had a colonoscopy since i was first diagnosed, do you think it would be wise to ask for one to see whats causing the problem?

i've been on azathioprine now for almost five months so i think it should have started to work by now
