i was wondering if reoccuring anal fistula's can be cured by doing an temporary ilestomy (sorry if spelled wrong)  i've had 4 surgeries already including advancment flap and fistulotomy and c-tons put in.  would it help to have the area take a break and re route the poo so it can heal.  just wondering if anyone has had this and if it worked.

Hello and wow, you have been through a lot already.  I do not know for sure but it seems like a possibility.  Have you run this past your surgeon........? I am sure the members will have some advice for you.  Just wanted to stop in and say stay brave.  I am rooting for you.

I would love to hear responses to this also as I am being scheduled for a temperary ileostomy due to nonhealing fistula. He will also being repairing my sphincter muscle too. My surgeon is telling me I stand a better chance of things healing down there if I do the ileostomy.

I have not had a ileostomy myself, but others on the board have. And most have said they have felt so much better and were able to eat alot more things. Hope your surgery goes well and this does the trick to getting your fistulas healed.

God Bless,
