Can you give us an update on the UT problem? Any progress there? Are you better, worse, or just in limbo?

Hey dude! Thanks for checking in...I am being lazy after studying the various forms of anemia ALL DAY long. I can answer any question you have about pretty much any type of anemia, though. I'm an expert for the next 36 hours (until my exam - HA)!

Let's see...the nephrologist was really nice, sympathized with me about my diarrhea (he grew up in India) and was trying to come up with all sorts of theories as to why I am such an alien. He ran another urinalysis and again my protein was 3+. No blood, no leukocytes, nothin' but protein. It was disgusting, though, when I produced the sample - it looked like it came straight out of the Tropicana bottle (totally opaque). So nasty, and weird.

He mentioned focal segmental glomerulonephritis, membranous nephritis, lupus, etc. and so I am getting a massive amount of blood work and urine tests done (including a split 24-hour to check for benign orthostatic proteinuria, which is a condition where you just happen to excrete protein upon standing - odd), and a renal ultrasound, and will see him for follow-up in six weeks. However, I will probably end up needing a kidney biopsy - have you had one of those?

Right now I am trying not to care, and I am successful part of the time, but I need to work harder at letting it go...

How are YOU, my friend?

Well, I'm the alien right now. I'm hurting pretty bad because, for some weird reason (Cold dry air???) my fingers decided to crack open. Badly. Its one of 3 things:
1) A side effect from my Lyrica.
2) Dry air & cold combing with my cold intolerance ( I have Raynaud's from the arthritis. Thanks again my dear DD!)
3) Medical from a disease Cd of course. Or maybe I've developed Diabetes. I do seem to pee a lot at night..

Anyway, I'm glad to hear they are working on it. I guess wbisme is no longer on site or he would have sounded in.

Take care,
