Hello Everybody.
I was wondering, does anybody here knows about a movie or even a sitcom that has ever shown a situation with Crohn's disease?
Just curious, imagining how it was dealed on TV.

HOUSE had an episode in the 1st season with a Santa Claus who had INFLAMMATORY BOWEL DISEASE. "It's bad enough having to go every hour but when the kiddies jump in my lap...ugh!" I bet it was Crohn's and I bet the reason they didn't SAY Crohn's is because not many people would have gotten "the joke"!

House prescribed him a cigarrette a day. I, personally, would rather deal with my bowels than smell like smoke. :)
Diagnosed in October, 2003 at age 31.
Currently taking Colazal, Nexium, One-A-Day multivitamin
Secondary conditions: mouth ulcers, joint pain, extreme fatigue

Yes, I have seen this episode, I love House MD. But I think in that case the patient had UC, since apparently cigarrets are terrible for CD but in the other hand it masks the UC symptoms!
And you are right, I would rather deal with my bowels too!!

Anyone else?

There was an episode of ER last year that showed a patient with Crohn's. It was actually quite scary. The poor patient was bleeding all over the place. Can't remember what happened. But I do remember it being quite dramatic! Makes for a better show!

32-year-old female diagnosed with CD in 2001.
Currently taking Pentasa 4g x four times daily and probiotics.

The following link does the best job I've seen of recapping a Private Practice episode where a patient is diagnosed with Crohn's...but only after many docs had assumed that the problems were not real, but in her head.

Daughter (20) Dx'd Crohn's 3/06. Misdiagnosed for two years, including by top pediatric Crohn's specialist as stress and needing more fiber but landed in hospital in 3/06 with cramps, vomiting, stricture. Now in remission with Entocort 3 mg (one pill), SCD multivit, yogurt, vit D3 1800IU, 900+ mg calcium, 50 mg B complex vit, 25 mg iron. Off SCD diet but wheat was iffy so back on SCD modified to include potatos and rice.

Our local news channel recently did something on IBD. I don't have a link though.
26 Year old married female.  Diagnosed w/ CD 3 years ago, IBS for over 10 years before that, which was probably the CD.  Currently on Pentasa 4 pills/4x day, hysociamine prn, nexium, and ortho evra.  Good times!!!

House has had episodes where he has ruled out Crohn's disease as the problem for patients and it has been identified by name.  I have all of the complete DVD Seasons of House............. devil

I just recently started watching House and it's one of the few TV shows I like. I couldn't watch it before because I'm always on the road. But now you can watch it online at Fox on Demand.
