This is more about
inappropriate "deeds" than comments...
A friend of mine who knew I had Crohn's picked me up to go to a baseball game one night. Unknown to me, he had plans for us to meet some of his other friends for dinner before the game. What kind of restaurant did he pull into? A CAJUN one. The entire menu was spice, spice, spice with the exception of one thing: when I ordered that plain baked potato I thought I'd NEVER hear the end of it. I didn't feel like explaining to the group of people at the table whom I'd never met before all about
my illness and what a CHUMP my friend was for agreeing to eat at a cajun restaurant KNOWING the conditions of my illness.
I, too, have had the "OMG, you've lost so much weight! You look great!" comments. For those close enough to me to know about
my Crohn's I say, "Well, I'm so glad you approve! I'll be happy to trade your fat body for my chronic disease." For those who DON'T know about
my Crohn's, I just say, "Thanks!" and go on about
