I just sat down to eat, not very hungry so I ate alittle homemade mash taters. Not 3 mins into it and I started getting cramps bad, in the pit of my belly. A few mins later the pains moved downward.....and off to the potty I went. But almost nothing happened just cramps. Do you think it's my crohns or maybe IBS?

How often has it happened? Have you lost weight? What other symptoms do you have? What tests have you had?

My personal experience with IBS is it takes more then a couple of bites of something soft to kick into the cramps.  I agree that more info would be helpful. Thanks.

Sounds like a food intolerance to me. I would try not to stress out over it, give it a few hours & see if it improves.

When I was in a flare, all it would take is a few bites to bring on the pain. My son, who is under a diagnosis of IBS at present, has the same problem ocassionally. His peds GI said it was his system going into overdrive. This isn't very helpful, I know, but goes to show that you aren't alone with this problem!

When my disease is really acting up, I get pain even before I eat, while preparing food -- just the anticipation of eating brings on a gnawing, spastic pain at the umbillicus. Funny, this is something I haven't thought about in months. It's a relief not to feel that pain.
