32 Osmo prep.  (Previously used Visicol.)  The first pills aren't so bad, but the more I take the harder it gets to swallow them.  Thinking it might be easier to swallow as a liquid more or less, I asked my pharmacist if it would be all right to crush them in some water.  He said it would.
I imagine it will have a nasty taste;  but if I chase it with drinks it might not be so bad.  I remember drinking some foul tasting liquid years ago and was able to do it.
Has anybody tried  this?

This is a very common topic here. Liquid preps vs Pills. I think the pills win every time. If your pharmacists says you can do it and you think you can get it down, more power to you. But I would suggest only crushing one dose at a time. Because, you may find that it isn't as easy to get down as you think. I think the pills have a taste even in pill form and take them with a highly flavored drink to mask it, I can't imagine crushing them to take them. YUCK! But to each his own.

I would ask your gastro about the Miralax prep. Its cheaper, over the counter. Your gastro shouldn't be adverse to you using it and if he/she is, he/she isn't up on the latest information on bowel preps and only concerned about what is most convenient for HIM/HER and not his/her patients.

I haven't tried Miralax yet. Will be trying it next month. BUT - all who have tried it has said the taste is no where near so bad as the Lytely products, PhosphoSoda or Magnesium Citrate. (The last two require much less foul tasting liquid to drink but you still have to get down enough clear liquids to flush you out).

Your gastro has absolutely NO WAY OF KNOWING what prep you used. They only know if your colon was clear and clean or not.

Some people are like Slinkies... Not really good for anything, but they still bring a smile to your face when you push them down a flight of stairs.
