Need some advice before a GI visit on Weds. I have recently had a colonoscopy & SBFT and have been told that i have a pretty bad stricture and there is abnormality in the large bowel now (had surgery on TI & ileocecal valve removed in 99). The doc said he meant inflammation by the word "abnormal" Hopefully it's not something more serious. Anyway i'd just like some advice as to what might be the best treatment to begin with in treating a stricture (when we don't know if it's scar tissue or narrowing). Is there anything in particular that should work well if its narrowing that's not caused by scar tissue? The only medication i've been on since my surgery is Questran and i'm so nervous about taking some of the serious meds that i read about here.
Can anyone help me out here so that i'm prepared for my GIs suggestions and is there anything that's too strong to start off on?

Thanks in advance,

Usually they will use either Prednisone or Entocort to decrease the inflammation. And usually will add something such as Pentasa or Asacol to start. Those are the usual beginning meds. But the could also put you on one of the immune suppressants such as 6mp or Imuran. That takes 2-3 months to kick in so I am sure they would start the Pred or Entocort first. Good luck!
Been living with Crohn's Disease for 32 years.  Currently on Asacol, Prilosec 60 mg, Estrace, Prinivil, Diltiazem, Percoset prn for pain and Calcium.  Resections in 2002 and 2005.  Recently diagnosed with Fibromyalgia and doing tests to see if I have Inflammatory Arthritis or AS.
