How do you tell...

the difference between mucous and pus in the stool.  My whole pelvic floor was full of pus prior to surgery and you would have thought with my intestinal wall being in such shape that I would have been passing pus in the stool as well.  I don't think I've noticed any mucus either...but then I'm not sure what to look for other than black tarry stools!
Not having a current problem, just thought maybe some of the newbies may want to know as well.

I'm not absolutely sure , but I think mucous is simply thick,viscous and white whereas pus would be thick, viscous and either green or yellow....much like what would come out your nose if you had a really bad sinus infection or cold. ?
