I got so many helpful responses to my situation with my professor who was giving me grief over my disability papers. I went to the head of the disability department and when I told him what had happened he was pretty outraged. Apparently the semester before they had trouble with this guy and just had a talk with him and sent him to some type of class. He called the dean of student life and all three of us talked for awhile. They were both very apologetic and were willing to do whatever they could do to help. I asked them to wait until after the semester to talk to the teacher because of grading issues and they agreed but assured me that strong action would be taken against this teacher. Since I'm the 2nd student he has victimized, I sure hope they find some way to get their point across, or send him packing! I had for another student to have to go through that too! Thank you all for you support and advice on that issue! It was definitely hard to deal with but I feel much better knowing that there will be consequences on his end for he did an hopefully he won't do it again!
Now my new question! I know a lot of crohnies are on anxiety meds and I'm starting to think I may need some help in that area too! Every time I leave the house I am so nervous that I am going to get sick that I end up making myself sick, and being a full-time college student, that isn't a good thing! I go to class and work one day a week and that's it! I'm scared to go out with friends because I'm afraid of having an accident or something! I get so nervous when I'm out I end up having to go to the bathroom way more than I normally would! I try to calm down, but its really hard! So I was just wondering what do you all take and who prescribes it to you? Your GI or Primary Doc? How did you go about talking to them about it? I'm always so afraid I'm going to sound like a drug-seeker, but I really think these would help with my quality of life! Did they help you guys at all? Thanks for all your help!

Your primary might prescribe for you or might send you to a psychiatrist to get an initial perscription and then do the follow up. Hmm..Every time I walk into my doctors office I am after some sort of medication I am either seeking sulindac so I can walk or antibiotics for sinus problems or ... If we did not need meds they would not have perscription pads its not like you are asking for 1000 tabs of codine...You won't be labled a drug seeker if you ask you primary doctor for something to help with anxiety that usually happens only if you ask multiple doctors that you do not see regularly for drugs.

Hello Malibu.

Wow, going to the dean was a *brave* thing to do. I'm so glad you have had such a positive reception. Good for you!

I'll leave the anxiety advice to the experts.

Hi Malibu, Good for you and you have made an inpact on future students who might have had to deal with this issue. I went to my Gynecologist who was very receptive and understood what it was like dealing with Crohn's Disease on a regular basis. My GI asked why I was on the meds and I told him. I'm beyond caring what people think of me, as long as I'm happy.

My family doctor gives me my meds for anxiety. I take a low dose of paxil and love it. She also gives me some ativan for when i need it but i never take it because with the paxil it takes care of the anxiety. good luck. Barb

I don't take a daily med for anxiety, but take one on a as needed basis. Its called Xanax. And I get it from my family doc.
