Happy Tuesday,
I wanted to ask if anyone gets a low grade temp(between 99 and 100) on prednisone? I don't get why it would happen. Just started on 20mg a day and that is a low dose. Just wanted to ask because it makes no sense to me but it happen most times I am on the steroids.

I've been on and off prednisone for the past two years and have never gotten a low grade temp. Usually my temp is lower than "normal."

I get low-grade temps when my Crohn's is bad. This happens on or off steroids. But, usually if I am bad enough to get the fevers, I am on steroids. I also get bad night sweats, but that does not seem related to the temps.

My doc said not to worry about the low grade fevers so long as I stay under 101. Of course to me 101 sounds too high. I call if I am consistently above 100.

i would be careful with fevers on pred especially. make sure to monitor it. I was on 10mg of pred and when my fever hit 102 I went to a walk in clinic I had no visible reason for the fever so they transported me via ambulance to the hospital. My bowel had perforated...also i had a time on imuran with a fever...i get migraines that nothing helps when i get gall bladder was rdy to burst I had no other symptoms. not to scare you but be very careful my gall bladder presented as menengitis certain meds can mask symptoms. keep a careful eye on your temp you also may want to keep a log of times taken and see if there is a pattern

Thanks lilturbo, l5999.
Dragonfly, thanks as well. I have noticed that the fevers return in the afternoon which coincedently is when the prednisone wears off(it only lasts about 1/2 day I read). So it could be the CD. It is just weird. I also feel "sick" on the stuff, sore throat, feverish, kind of sweaty and weak. Terrible pain in my shoulder(like it has been bruise on the bony part)
