skull  I was reading on the web this morning about a few of my meds and some side effects you may have from them .The meds i'm talking about is MTX and good old pred. I have noticed lately that i'm having alot of brusing. I looked at my arms last night and i have 11 or 12 bruses looks like i've been in a fight.I really don't think it's any thing to be concerned about. I was just wondering if any of you guys have had a lot of brusing as a side effect from your meds?

Yes, I have. It might be worth mentioning it to your doctor at your next appt or even phoning now if you're very concerned. It doesn't necessarily mean that anything's wrong, but it's important that the docs know how you respond to your meds.

When did you last have a blood test?

I bruise very easily when I am on prednisone. I always look like I've been beaten. When I use to take NSAIDs I would get a bruise if someone tapped me lightly. One time my GYN asked if I was being abused by my husband because I had so many bruises. That's when they did bleeding times on me and found that NSAIDs caused me to have a bleeding disorder. Go figure.....

Hi Auntkay,
I take both MTX and pred and like you have a lot of bruising. I also have lots of skin tears on my forearms - I only have to knock my arms now and there will be a nice red streak down my arm - sometimes I draw lots of blood if I have knocked them hard enough. When I am at work I wear thermal arm bands to protect/hide my arms. One of my colleagues commented that this happens with her Grandmother and I said 'but Im only 44 not 84! But like you said - just another side effect from these drugs.
Take care

Anyone can give up, it's the easiest thing in the world to do. But to hold it together when everyone else would understand if you fell apart, that's true strength

Diagnosed with severe Crohn's colitis in May 2005--spread to ileum and small intestine as of April 2008. Have taken Imuran, Remicade, TPN, Colozal, Entocort, Flagyl, PamineForte, Cipro, Dicyclomine, Prednisone, Asacol, Prevacid, and the list goes on. Currently on Remicade every 8wks, 40mg Pred, Pentasa.

Hmm... Bruising isn't something I've really noticed because I've always bruised rather easily, anyway... I also have a tendency to scratch myself in my sleep (usually my hands and arms, dunno why)... wake up with scratches.

Side effects from medicine sucks, though. :(... Why do there have to be side effects, darn it?
I think I am being picked on by life, sometimes. But's that okay. Life and I are good buddies... I know life doesn't mean no harm. It just is the way it is. I can accept that.

I never was one who bruised easily. I can get clobberd and show no sign, perhaps a little yellow tinge. The odd think is I will have a large purple spot appear where nothing has hit me at all. No soreness either. I have no clue.
If we would read the secret history of our enemies,we would find in each mans life sorrow and suffering enough to disarm all hostility.
