I am in such a horrible Crohns flare and I just need to know that I am going to be ok and that my doctor
is going to listen to me when I call him tomorrow.  I'm scheduled for a scope but not until Jul 3rd.  I
am going to tell him tomorrow that if he doesnt get me in sooner I am taking myself to the emergency room.
I cant keep functioning like this.  My joints hurt, my lower back is killing me, my upper joints, fingers, elbows
hurt.  I cant eat and Im on 40mg of prednisone.  Ive dropped 7 pounds in the past 2 weeks.  Im really
sick you guys and my doctor is not listening to me.  But Im suppose to be with the best doctor around.
He was on vacation last week so I've had to deal but I am calling first thing tomorrow morning.  I just
cant keep going like this its awful!!  sad    Its flashback to my big flare 8 years ago that landed me
in the hospital.  So if I have to take myself there this time then I will.  Maybe then he will listen to me.
I'm not even going to be able to go to work tomorrow.

If you doctor won't listen and can't get you in sooner for the scope its time to find a new doc. Even if your doc was on vacation someone should be covering his patients. Don't hesistate to go to the ER if you feel so awful. Just remember even the greatest doctors are only human and not the gods they sometimes think they are. Their egos sometimes effect their ability to hear their patients. Don't put up with it.

Good luck and feel better.

Jodi's right. If you can't get your own doc, get the doc on call. And if your energy is zapped for this, please have a relative or friend call for you--tell them to be a buster til you get a call back. i hope and pray things get better for you.

I agree, your GI has another doctor covering his patients. I normally flare by joint/muscle pain/fatigue,the Imuran and Humira has really cut down on that, plus I do take Tylenol/Motrin for the aches,my GI says I can take Motrin in moderation.I also use OTC ointment called Tiger Balm,it warms up the joints, and feels sooo good!!

I do hope you feel better soon, sending hugs your way :-)

LBJ it sounds as if you are truly suffering and I am so sorry you have had to suffer for so long. If you are feeling that bad, I suggest you go ahead and go to the hospital. At least there maybe you can get the tests run a little quicker and get some relief. ((Gentle hugs))

Thank you everyone!! I called his answering service and broke down crying with the lady. The GI doctor on call called right
back but he made me mad and we hung up getting no where other than if I felt I needed to go to ER. I asked him if I should
maybe up the prednisone and he said he couldn't tell me that without seeing me. (??????????????) I hung up getting no where
with him. I am going to try and suffer through this today/tonight and calling his office first thing tomorrow.
He can not make me suffer through this another month!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

:(... Yeah, I think you should go to the ER, too... You really sound like you're doing horrible. *I can understand your frustration, too... My doctor was kind of on vacation for a while, too... (He was celebrating his daughter's marriage)... And he doesn't do a very good job with listening either. What is it with doctors and not listening? Sheesh...*
I think I am being picked on by life, sometimes. But's that okay. Life and I are good buddies... I know life doesn't mean no harm. It just is the way it is. I can accept that.

LBJ never mind talking to the docs....just go to the hospital. You need to be seen by someone.

Good luck

Hi LBJ Hope you had some results . I go to emerg. when things get really bad. Sometimes just going in and getting checked over helps. I would think after 2 weeks on 40 pred. you should feel a little better. Keep in touch. lol gail

Thank you everyone!! I didn't go to the emergency room because if they didn't admit me I would have had to pay my co-pay of $150
and we just don't have that right now. So I suffered through the night. I was up from about 1-3:30am crying. :-(
I stayed home from work today because there was just no way I can function like this. I put a call into my doctor's office
as soon as they opened. Doctors nurse just called me back and I just got done crying on the phone with her. I think they
are going to try and get me in for my scope before July 3rd. They better anyway! I told her that I can not wait that long.
I'm suffering and he has got to do something. I told her that if he can't do my scope, put me with a GI doctor who can.
I don't care at this point who does it, I just know I can't wait until July 3rd!!! Its much easier for me to cry on a women then
it is a man!!! LOL I think she got my point. So we'll see.... Have to wait for her or him to call me back.
Thank you so much for being here for me!!! It really means alot!

I'm sorry you have to go through this.... I experience a bad flare-up two months ago and, despite initially fighting it, ended up at the ER within a week (was released the same day - which cost me $300!- only to be back at the ER and admitted two days later). I don't know which drugs you've taken before but I would think it makes no sense to wait for the scope to get started with something else...at the very least you may fell better if you have some percoset or other painkillers...If your doc is not responsive, then by all means try someone else!
I'll be praying for do...

LBJ - it makes me so mad that your doctor said he couldn't adjust your medication without seeing you. I guess if he was from another practice he doesn't have your file and there is some liability there. But, GI's do not have XRay vision. They decide what to give you based on what you tell them, until you can get in for tests. So going in to "see" this doctor wouldn't make much difference than speaking with him on the phone, IMHO. When I flared really bad my GI's colleague called and changed my meds over the phone. Once I was on steroids I checked in w/ my doc (by phone) every other week to decide how much I should taper. I hope you get some better care asap.
