Hi folks,

Crohns fighter, a new member, posted this question in another thread. I thought it deseved a thread of its own, so here it is:

Hi Fellow Canadians,

Has any of you been fortunate enough to get services of a Remicade coordinator esp. for reimbursement? Could you tell me how does this work? How do I get in touch with one?

Where are these Remicade coordinators located?

How successful are they in getting drug coverage?

Please respond urgently.

I hope this gets to the guy who needs it, and that it helps somewhat...

Med Emerg Healthcare Solutions is the nursing agency in Ontario that oversee's the remicade program, and I'm sure, no matter which province your in, they can offer some help or point in the right direction. Call them at 1-877-299-1014. Also, in Canada, there is a government program called " The Trillium Fund" which is very great as it will cover the majority of the drug (no matter what your income, I met a successful lawyer who through the trillium ended up paying only $70.00 per treatment out of his own pockett). I don't have a number for them, but check the blue pages. I'm on my way to my infussion in about an hour, so, I will speak with my nurse and see if I can get some more info/ further details regarding your question.

First major symptoms in '96, horseshoe fistula's and severe abdominal pain with BD shortly after. Diagnosed with Crohn's in 2001. Double fistulectomy in '02. Too many cut, drain and packs to mention.
Began Remecade in late '02, 5 vials every 4 weeks. 500mg Cipro twice daily, and 250mg Flagyl 3 times daily.

If I'm not mistaken, the Trillium Fund a provincial fund in Ontario only.
50 years with Crohn's and still going (no pun intended)! Diagnosed in 1958.
