So I have an abssess and I had surgery to drain it.  But I came home to visit my parents a few days ago and my butt strated hurting by one of the insisions.  I went to the ER today and they told me they will have to do surgery tomarrow.  I am kinda worried because I am not near any of my docs. But on the plus side at least my family will be with me.  It makes me kinda mad though I had surgery for this just five weeks ago and now I have to have surgery again.  Does anyone know if it will be likely because I have a paranial abbsess that I will have to have more surgeries in the future?

Was it left open to heal from the inside out? Did your surgeon look around on the inside with an anoscope to see if he could find any internal openings indicating a fistula? After your surgery this tme, soak in the tub in the hottest water possible as many times as a day as you can. It keeps it open, and promotes healing.
I understand your frustration!  I had continuous abscesses for about 2 years.  One would heal and then another would come.  Then my dr. finally found the fistual that more than likely was the culprit befhind these and he put a seton in, and since then I have not had any more.

I had a perirectal abscess drained in early May. My surgeon just used a small incision because it was small and shallow. I was very happy to have a small incision considering the big, ugly one I had in January. Unfortunately, it didn't heal right and plugged 3 weeks later. Back in the OR and a quater-sized incision. Its healing nicely now. My abscesses are all related to the original fistula. It starts in the rectum but then it branched on its way to the perineum, which is why I have had 3 abscesses and have 2 setons.

Chroniemomx2 -- I am glad they found the nasty, misbehaving culprit!!!!
