lap band surgery

Has anyone thought of having lap band surgery?
I am thinking about going to dr. to find out if it is possible to have lap band sugery?
Has anyone had it done?
I had my colon removed about 8 yrs ago. They thought I had colitis and now they tell me I have crohn's.  So I don't know if I can get it done.  I just can't lose weight and it is really making me depressed. Went for a 1/2 mile walk in N.H. and thought I was going to die. I'm about 100 lbs. over weight.

I think in general, weight loss surgery of any kind isn't recommended for people with gastroentestinal issues. The commercial for lap-band states that you shouldn't consider the surgery if you have GI problems or autoimmune disorders...crohn's is both. I would talk to your specific dr(s) and see what they advise!

Hi Donna Did you put the weight on while on pred.? I know being overweight can be a downer at times . I do feel a little slimmer since I got off pred. but still plump. Doesn't matter too much to me if I feel good. Do you find you eat out of boredom or depression? Have you tried a weight group or talked to a dietician? Wow you walked quite a ways was that your first walk? Starting a exercise program sometimes is nice to share, some times with others doing things. lol gail
