so, I went to my doctor with complaints of nausea.
I was so bad that I didnt eat a whole meal for a week, I would nibble here and there and eat a bite to take my steroids and when i felt good I'd eat what I could.. Then and hour or so later I was just as bad as before.
I dropped ten pounds in that week.
So, my gastro gave me prevacid. Which I've been taking, it worked for like three days but now I seem to be back at where I started.
I'm burping up stomach bile.. which is disgusting and makes me even more nauseated and if I could, I stay at home and sleep all day..

does anyone know why this is happening, i really hope it's not a flare up starting.
I've had small amount of joint pain too.. bah.

Prednisone gives me really bad acid reflux, so that may be your culprit. I would call your doc back and see if you can up the Prevacid or try a different proton pump inhibitor. Good luck!

I've been having the same problem lately. I've had really bad nausea and also some really bad back pain.  I went to my GI and they did a bunch of tests, but everything was normal.  I am really frusterated because its begining to interupt my life.

Kanditron, I get nausea too. it stinks. I take zofran when needed. I also sometimes take 2 prilosec pills because 1 is not enough to control the acid. dreamer06, my mom is lactose intolerant and she gets back pain w/ dairy. I would call your Doc but maybe it is something you are eating? good luck both of you. karen

I went to my GI a few months ago with similar symptoms plus a few more. I kept telling him this is not my 'regular' Crohn's issues - this time the discomfort and pain it was much higher up with lots of acid. But when you have Crohn's that's all they see. After a virtual colonoscopy didn't show anything unusual (and why would it, the problem was in the stomach area, now the bowel), he told me I was fine. I asked him why I was feeling so badly if I am 'fine'. So to humour me he made another appointment where he listened (but didn't really) - and again to humour me, he said let's do a gastroscopy.

The result? "I had no idea you had such a large hiatal hernia!" He might have, if he had listened to me at the start.

I am now taking two Pantaloc (also a proton pump inhibitor) a day and being even more careful with my diet and I actually do feel a bit better and, for the first time in 4 or 5 months actually have some energy. I suspect I'll end up having surgery to repair it at some point, but at least I'm managing better now.

So that is definitely something you might want to check out - the reflux was really awful.

I went through a spell about 2 years ago where I had nausea and pain. The pain was higher than my usual pain, and I don't usually have nausea. Eventually they found that I had gastritis and duodenitis. I ended up in the hospital multiple times and had every test they could come up with, some multiple times. The doctors never did find out what the cause was. This went on for about 10 months and I ended up losing about 60lbs. I still get the nausea and pain once in a while, but when I do, I just back off food for a few days and let the gastritis heal and things go back to normal. I take Zofran for the nausea, and when that isn't enough I add a Tigan into the mix.

The best way I found to deal with it is with chicken broth and saltines. The salt some how settles my stomach. Even now, I take a hot cup with chicken broth almost every morning like most people take coffee. When it gets really bad, I add a little smear of butter to the saltine. Some combo of the fat in the butter and the salt in the cracker works wonders for me. Just a couple of them help to keep all the nasty bile down, most of the time.

I hope you can get some answers and start feeling better soon.

I had nausea really bad, doc tried prevacid and nexum. Then he did blood work and found out I had a bacteria infection in the lining of my stomach call h. pylori. I had to take very intense antibotics for 2 weeks along with prevacid. I guess it comes from contaminated food, drink, or utentils. Needless to say I don't eat out much anymore. I had it narrowed down to 3 restaurants. Anyway, you might want to this checked, just an idea.

Thanks everyone!
I am feeling a little bit better, it tends to come then go through out the day.
My doc. took some blood tests before my complaints of nausea and my inflammatory markers are up a little. So, that's probably it. They want to draw more blood again to check the inflammation markers again, if they are still up, they want me to up my dose of steroids. I have been trying to get off the steroids for so long now, I hope I don't have to up my dose again!!!
It's been about a year and I'm down to 8mg now.. but we've been playing the yo-yo game with it.

I'm pulling for you. I've been doing the taper dance for so long. I am down to 4mg, except for some short burst to help my joint pain, but its taken FOREVER. I hope you can stay down and keep tapering, but whatever it takes to keep the big bad CD at bay. I'll keep everything crossed for you!!!!!

I as well deal with a lot of nausea and I take Nexium and it does help but noit enough so I am on Phenergan as well have been for over five years now and it has been a life saver for me.If I don't take my Phenergan before I take my other meds or when I eat a meal I will throw it right back up.You may want to talk to your GI and see if he/her will write you a script for some to see i

f this doesn't give you some added releive.I wish you much luck and keep us posted.
