I haven't had my monthly period since January and I know I am not pregnant. My dr. checked even though I am sure. I am in my early 30's so I am too young to go through menopause. I am wondering if my hormones are just out of whack. I am tired constantly and have even had low blood sugar a few times that left me clammy. Have you ladies experienced anything similar?

Sorry you're going through this! The only time I went that long without a period was when I stopped taking birth control. I also would get "off schedule" when I had to do a round of steroids, or if it was around time for final exams in college... None of that really adds up though... sorry! I wish I had a better answer, but us crohnies are just always making exceptions to the rules! That being said, I did have one month where I totally thought I was pregnant - I had every symptom in the book... and I wasn't. I definitely think crohn's has the stupid mystical power to get our hormones out of whack!

I hope it sorts out soon! ((hugs))

I would get to the doctor soon and get a workup done.

I've had this happen when I was sick and had lost a lot of weight. I was always tired too, but not clammy. I would check things with your PCP and if their no help your GI.

Start with your PCP, then try your gyn. If you are severely anemic, or your thyroid meds are out of whack, or you've lost/gained a lot of weight, or are very stressed, or a million other things, your period could stop. It may have nothing to do with Crohns.

You'll need some blood work and should also have an ultrasound of your uterus and ovaries. Do a little research on Polycystic Ovary Syndrome and see if it fits. Don't let your PCP just give you pills to jumpstart your period, you should have some tests to see why it stopped. If they can't find anything, then try the hormones. My sister was eventually diagnosed with PCOS after missing periods and having blood sugar problems but at first, her doctor tried to minimize her complaints.

I had this happen (more than once) and it was nothing. Basically, my body shut down that area for a while. My doctors never flat out said it but is sounded as if my body did it in response to my Crohn's.

Dagger hit the nail right on the head...at least for me. Described my problems to a tee. With my thyroid problems plus my PCOS I rarely if ever have periods. Even on birth control I don't always have periods. PCOS can cause you to become insulin resistant too. They diagnosed me with PCOS by doing an ultrasound. Sometimes when you have PCOS instead of releasing an egg every month it stays on your ovary and turns into a cyst...after a certain amount of time you get a collection of them described as a "pearl necklace". I had that. I guess another way to be diagnosed is through blood work. keep us updated.

This happens to me only when I am on steroids.  Steroids can mess with your cycle.  Also if you have thyroid problems or severe malnutricion.  You should check it out, but don't panic.

It's common not to get your period if there has been a dramatic weight loss or stress on the body. Lord knows this disease can overwhelm the body. Just have your doctor check everything again. As for low blood sugar and clammy.....yep, I have that too. And I had to get on the birth control pill when I was 17 to keep my period regular. Hope it all works out for you!

Yup happened to me to when I was first sick-before I was diagnosed-I lost a lot of weight. I told my doc I had not had a period in six months and she wasn't even concerned enough to send me for an exam-she just said that when your body is that sick it stops your cycle to conserve energy.
Having said that -I would talk to your doc.
