I am very upset that at a Crohn's disease forum I can't let people know about a charity working to find a cure for Crohn's and Colitis because it is considered "soliciting." This is absolutely rediculous.

Lauren, I have edited your post. Again, this forum is not to be used for the solicitation of funds. If you have objections to this rule, you are welcome to contact the site administrator directly at

I also have bad acid reflux and have been on PPI's since age 13. I have been through prilosec, prevacid, and nexium. Currently I am on Protonix in the morning and Zantac at night. Lauren it is wonderful that you want to actively participate in research efforts by raising money for this dreaded disease. This forum however, is for people to dialogue about the daily issues they face living with this disease. If the policy weren't there, this forum might become flooded with solicitations. Some, like yours, are legitimate and reflect the amazing generosity and courage that typifies us crohnies (and so many others living with chronic illness). The problem is that others may be scams, using the anonymity provided by these kinds of services to reach thousands of unsuspecting victims.

This site, by hosting them, would be vulnerable to liability for allowing this access. I suspect that is one of the reasons it is prohibuted,

Please try to turn the prism on your anger to see the rainbow that this site represents. Maybe if you look at this issue from the eyes of those responsible for the site and from the eyes of users like me who come here to be educated and offer support, it will help to diffuse your anger. I'm not asking you to agree with the policies but please try to understand that there are sound reasons for them.

Good luck with your fundraising efforts Lauren and know that you will have support in spirit from all of us who regularly visit Healing Well.

30+ years living with Crohn's.
