I currently live in Illinois and have just been dropped from my mothers insurance. I was denied coverage from Blue Cross Blue Shield due to my Crohn's. I may get insurance through something called ICHIP, if anybody knows anything about
this...pros, cons. I would appreciate any information. Also if anybody knows of any private insurance companies, hmos, ppos, aetna, humana or any others that doesn't refuse coverage to Crohns patients I would appreciate that information too. I'm going to be getting married soon, Aug 17th. I leave on the 8th and will be gone for a month. For my peace of mind I really need insurance as soon as possible. I'm freaking out can someone help.

Does the person you are marrying have group insurance? That is your best bet. Was your mother's insurance through her work? Did you age out? Can you just Cobra hers until you get married? How about
travel insurance to cover you for that month? Many airlines offer it as does AAA.
26 Year old married female law student (last year!!). Diagnosed w/ CD 4 years ago, IBS for over 10 years before that, which was probably the CD. I am sort of lactose intollerant too but can handle anything cultured and do well w/ lactose pills and lactaid. For crohns I am currently on Pentasa 4 pills/4x day and hysociamine prn. I also have bad acid reflux and have been on PPI's since age 13. I have been through prilosec, prevacid, and nexium. Currently I am on Protonix in the morning and Zantac at night. I also take a birth control pill to allow some fun in my life.

Yes, the best bet would be your spouse's group insurance but your soon to be spouse must go to hr and get you signed up as soon as you are married.

the travel insurance isn't a bad idea to look into. I've called my mom to find out about
Cobra for me, and we're going to call my fiances insurance to see if I can cobra. But other than that I don't know I guess the states comprehensive health care but I don't know how much the state will cover. If anyone else has suggestions let me know I want to hear from everyone.

You wouldn't be doing Cobra on your fiances, just your moms. That is where you pay the amount the employer was paying on your behalf in order to maintain your group coverage.
You are eligible, the day you are married, to be on your fiance's insurance. No cobra necessary there. However, to protect yourself from having a pre-existing condition you can not lapse your insurance. You have about
60 days depending on the state when you come off of your mom's to elect cobra. During those 60 days you are not considered lapsed. When you do elect it you will have to back pay to be covered for the 60 days and it is good for 18 months.
