I am supposta take 4tbls of Milk of Magnesia tomm. after I drink the Magnesium Citrate for my Small Bowel Follow trough prep, but my mom bought me Kaopectate. I was just wondering what the difference is, are they the same thing or not. If theyre different then I need to go and buy some milk of magnesia. thanks

Kaopectate is an anti-diarrhea med. Milk of magnesia is an anti-constipation med. They are definitely not interchangeable.

They sure aren't!!! MOM is used to soften stools and get them moving thru.

That horrible pink stuff is for diarrhea to slow you down and firm things up.

You have to do a prep for a SBFT??? I never have. Just NPO a certain number of hours prior.

Even for a CT Enterography it was just a matter of a limited diet before and then NPO a set amount of hours.

Do you have a serious problem w/constipation? 'Cause if not it sure sounds like overkill to me! Or maybe you have a slow motility problem?

Ah well, a cleaned out gut should give you good pictures. Except MOM "after" the Mag Cit is confusing too. I would expect vice versa!
I'd HAVE to ask the doctor his convuluted reasoning for this "prep" for a SBFT. I wouldn't be able NOT to ask!

Some people are like Slinkies... Not really good for anything, but they still bring a smile to your face when you push them down a flight of stairs.

I was thinking the same thing. I use MOM after the SBFT, but no prep.
49 y/o woman.  Diagnosed 4/06 after colonscopy, SBFT, CT-scan all showed crohns. 3 months later, after pred and remicade, all tests showed no crohns. December '06 had adhesions cut through a laparoscopy. Now taking Glycolax, Ultra Fiber Plus, Florastor, and DHEA. Have become gluten-free diet per naturopath's tests.
