My son's CD problems began a few months after finishing a 10 week round of doxycycline as a cautionary measure after two tick bites that had the classic bulls-eye look.

Do I think his CD is related to Lyme? No. I believe in his case the CD was there before the possibility he'd been infected w/Lyme but the use of antibiotics really upset his gut flora, exacerbated the Crohn's and ultimately led to his CD diagnosis. It was during all the blood work trying to ascertain whether he had Lyme that we discovered he was anemic. At that point it became clear that he'd been anemic for quite some time prior to his tick bites and had also had very, very minor IBD symptoms for a few years.

Hope that made sense...

We don't know what brought the first flare of CD, but my husband's second major flare was right after taking Doxy for brown recluse spider bites.

I wondered if the antibiotics caused the flare.

husband (40) has been diagnosed (2006) with CD (by symptoms only-all tests are inconclusive)
