I read this CNN article today about how fast you can end up with tens of thousands of dollars of debt from some x-rays and stitches.  They mentioned this site
as being a helpful tool for finding health insurance options and unconditional acceptance health plans and health related aid in your state.  Surprisingly, it really is helpful!
It shows where there are state insurance plans and aid programs that are even available to the sickest person with pre-existing conditions, and you don't have to be dirt-poor to qualify.  There are insurance plans and aid programs to help people who are dirt-poor and struggle to get by on medicaid alone.  There are plans to help people insure and care for medical costs for their children.  Wow!!  There is even an online tool to help you figure out which state options you may qualify for, and a number you can call to have one of their representatives assist you with locating coverage and/or aid.
It's one of the most useful websites I've ever found.  It's run by a non-profit organization, and it's all free to use.  For anyone who is leery of clicking the link from my recommendation alone, read the CNN article and you can choose to click anything there if you like.  The article has lots of good recommendations and links in general for dealing with medical and hospital bills and insurance.  http://www.cnn.com/2008/HEALTH/08/28/ep.medical.debt/index.html
I really hope that healingwell can add the coverageforall site to some stickys or feature it under the resource centers, since finding health insurance or health aid is a life-improving event for people with health problems.  turn
