Ok, so first off, Hey everyone. I hope all of you are in good spirits.
So, I had a "staph" infection so they say but it ITCHES and hasnt gone away. So I usually get my Remicade every 8 weeks, but since I have had this infection or whatever it has been TWELVE WEEKS......SYMPTOM FREE. And the "infection" isnt gone yet so it could be more.
Im not sure what to think. Am I in remission? and if i long have I been in remission....because I have been geting Remicade since I was 12 (19 now) every eight weeks, relatively symptom free.
If you are on Remicade you know it can be pricey. without insurance its 5,000 dollars just for the medication. I have been blessed with good insurance except for a few times I got it with 80/20 insurance, where the insurance company pays 80% and you pay 20%. which I am STILL paying off, even though it was a bill from before I was 18, that just "carried over" onto me. Thats another venting story though.
So my question is, for people who have stopped taking Remicade, How long is it before symptoms return? and Do you all think it is a safe decision to decide not to even get the next dose? I mean maybe maitenance meds that werent successful when I was really sick will work now if I start having symptoms? idk. Just need some input.
I know a visit to the GI is what I really need to discuss this but I figured Id throw it your way first.
Thanks Guys and Gals.
God Bless.

Hi In my case the symnptoms returned while still on Rem. I had gotten a severe cold. There are lots here who have stopped it and not sure everyone had good results when they restarted. As for other meds I don't know if the old ones work after Remicade better. That is certainly a interesting point. Hope some with more info respond to your post. lol gail
