Hi. Ive had CD since 1991. I also have IBS, Spastic colon, IBS, and nervous stomach. I have no insurance right now but am getting treatment thru a specialist. Im having a serious flair right now. Ive been in and out of the hospital all my life. Ive had 4 small bowel resections. Its also causing serious problems with my kidneys. It makes me develop kidney stones continuously. My dr is trying to get me approvd for funding for the humera until I can get social security disability. Ive had so much problems and am in constant pain. Ive had a fistula before also. The crohns is in my sm intestines. Ive been in the hopital most of the last two months and Im at my wits end. I have 3 kids at home that need me and I cant ever seem to get a reprieve from my crohns. Im very excited to have found this site. Ive learned so much already. So howdy folks. Ill pull up a chair and join all of you.

I've been sick non stop for more than 10 years. I've had 1 resection and am looking at having another one if I start having bowel obstructions again.
Right now I'm pregnant so I'm actually feeling a little better finally. My CD is still flaring, but more mildly and I haven't had obstructions since the beginning of the 2nd trimester. Yay!

Anyway, what I find helps me more than meds or surgery or anything is a strong multi probiotic and taking digestive enzymes with every meal and a natural chem free/process free diet. My diet plays a big part in how I feel. I've nearly eliminated all sugar and processed foods and foods with chemicals. I mainly eat a very natural diet that is easy to digest: chicken/fish/ground beef, potatoes, veggies, fruit, rice, honey for sweetener, sea salt, olive oil, real butter. Nothing with chemicals or man-made crap. Even the snacks I buy are all natural and usually organic. Camomile tea helps alot too.

I've tried and tested so many remedies, meds, diets, etc and the one above is the best one for me. I've learned alot from the people here about diets that really help CD symptoms. Alot of people here eat according to the Maker's Diet or Specific Carbohydrate Diet. They are also very natural easy to digest diets.

This site is wonderful to learn about new research too, like stem cell research or intestinal worm therapy (which is really working well for ppl with CD!) so glad you joined us and I hope you get some relief soon!

Welcome! I'm looking forward to hearing more from you in future posts! My fingers are crossed that you get Humira. It sounds like you've got quite a bad case, and need one of the "big guns". Insurance woes must be very stressful (I'm so fortunate to be covered).

savkelchr: where do you live?

I have had Crohn's since I was 21 years old and I am now almost 28....

I am currently on Prednisone and have tired literally every drug available.

Unfortunately, nothing has worked for me. But I will keep on going and trying everything possible!

Also recovering from a blood clot in my lung and of course the blood thinners really messed up my bleeding from my Crohn's....
