Hey all I am a mid 20's female.
I was just diagnosed in February this year with Crohn' docs are hoping to not have to do any surgery and are doing everything in their power (so they say) to keep things in control.
I still get nervous every time I have a Remicade treatment (i go every 6 weeks instead of every 8) and I am taking diciclomine, vicodin, and prednisone regularly.
One question I do have...has anyone ever tried accupuncture?
If you have any useful tips or great general knowledge please let me know...I am having a hard time coping with all of this yet I guess so anything at all may calm my nerves.
thank you,

Hi Dree and welcome! I can't take remicade, so I cannot offer any advice on that. I have not tried accupunture either. I eat when I can, and when I can't I go on a liquid fast. I have found DGL Licorice, High Potency Probiotics and digestive enzymes to help. Many recommend bee propolis & slippery elm. I am on bee propolis, but will wait until after surgery to try slippery elm.

For nerves, try chamomile tea, sleepy time or sleepy time extra tea by celestian seasonings. Both are very nice and soothing.
150mg Azathioprine, Lomotil, Iron, Nexium 2/day, Fentanyl patch, Oxycodone, Baclofin
Crohn's, Fibromyalgia, Several bulging discs, Bone spurs, Osteoarthritis, Osteopenia, Reflux, Stenosis, Strictures, Dengenerating facet joints
2 resections
When I am weak, then am I strong

Hi Dree!

Welcome to healingwell.

I have never tried accupuncture but my dad is really big into it and with natural medicines, and natural healing in general.  He goes to some doctor that cured his acid reflux by pushing on his stomach in certain spots, pretty crazy.  I guess while he was there one day he told his Dr that I had Crohns and he said accupuncture would def help with crohns, Im not sure how really...I havent looked into it at all, and I know my insurance wouldnt cover me seeing that type of doctor but, its something I do want to try.

Dianogsed with Crohns at 16, 21 yrs old now.
Surgeries:2 Bowel Resections, Gallbladder Removed.
Current Meds: Humira (bi-weekly), 50mg Pred, Levbid, Nexium, B12 injections.

I have had accupuncture and it is lovely and relaxing and really helps muscle pain, but it didn't help my gut. I have however, found great relief thru diet and from my naturopath.
49 y/o woman.  Diagnosed 4/06 after colonscopy, SBFT, CT-scan all showed crohns. 3 months later, after pred and remicade, all tests showed no crohns. December '06 had adhesions cut through a laparoscopy. Now taking Glycolax, Ultra Fiber Plus, Florastor, and DHEA. Have become gluten-free diet per naturopath's tests.
