Ok so I just got my package in the mail with the probiotics I ordered online.
I got the GNC brand Super Bifido 10 Billion CFU.
I just took my first pill.  Im wondering how long does it take on average to notice a difference from them?  Has anyone ever had a bad reaction to them? Or any side effects? Im really new to all this (probiotics, vitamins, ect ect)  although Ive had crohns for 6 years, I never really took care of myself until this last flare up/ really scared me and reminded me that Im not "home free" and will never be, so I better get my butt in gear and start taking care of my body while I'm still young.
Dianogsed with Crohns: At 16 years old. 22 years old now.
Surgeries:2 Bowel Resections, Gallbladder Removed.
Current Meds: Humira (bi-weekly), 10mg Pred (tapering), Nexium, B12 injections.

I tried a couple of different brands. I didn't have luck with the first few and eventually gave up on all probiotics since they didn't "work" for me. I have learned my lesson that some brands work for one of us, while another brand works for someone else. I found that it took a few days to a week to notice a change. I have been on the brand I am using now for about 2 months and I still have some bad days but overall things are better so I will continue. I just don't want you to give up if this one doesn't work well for you or increases your symptoms. It might just not be the right formula for you.

I tried all the branded stuff and none of it worked. However, I then tried to use the boots the chemist Probiotic and it worked pretty well for me. I am still talking it to keep the balance right. The thing with probiotic is the fact that you need to give them time. They do not work straight away for everyone. Give them a chance and I am sure you will notice a difference.

Anyone can give up, it's the easiest thing in the world to do. But to hold it together when everyone else would understand if you fell apart, that's true strength

GNC is a big store with a lot of big brand names that span the price range but i question the quality of the products they sell. a lot of those products are virtually all filler. go to a quality health food store instead to get a decent product or do some research to know what to get on-line so you dont waste your money.

a good probiotic needs refrigeration. you want it to have several different strains.

a lot of people have great success with VSL#3 - order it online by googling the name. a months supply is like $45 usd.

you may not notice a clinical response, but remember, it will take a while to repopulate your gut with good beasties. antibiotics and a western diet (ie one high in refined/processed foods and sugars) are detrimental to reseeding.
