I have my colonoscopy tommorow afternoon and my doctor gave me trilyte and 4 dulcolax tablets. I took the tablets and now am trying to drink the drink. I tried to chug it but after two sips i feel the need to throw up so i have to take a sip of something else. Is this normal? Is there anything i can do to make it better. I don't know how i am going to get all this down.

Hi Lawgirl,
prehaps you could put in some clear fruit juice such as apple juice to give it some taste? I did that with mine and it made it so much easier to take.

in the future try the pills
but I think fleet (availibe at any walgreens) works well for me, but you have to take it like an liquor shot (it doesn't work well for everyone)

In the meantime try mixing it with other stuff to make it more tolerable...

what i did.....although i had a different one to drink, golytely or halflytlely or something.....they're probably pretty similar......anyway.....what helped me get that crap down was to have many popsicles nearby, well one at a time of course otherwise they might melt.....just keep one in a bowl....lineup however many cups of nasty juice in front of you, think mine was 5 tall glasses worth, and just have at it, when you need to kill the flavor go for the popsicle, worked wonders for me, at least to get the stuff down, the after affects were another story...once it came on i spent the rest of the night in the bathroom with extreme diarrhea till i was on empty and then some........good times! lol

The pills are added insurance to make sure you're running clear, I've always been told to take them after I've finished my one small bottle of phospho-soda which is much easier and quicker to get down if you do it right (mixing 1/3 of the 45ml phospho into a full glass of cold clear pop, then you don't taste it).

My bum is broken....there's a big crack down the middle of it! LOL :)

I took Miralax, it's a powder that you mix with apple juice or gatorade, plus 3 ducolaxes. My doctor said I did an excellent job and I didn't throw up once! It's over the counter, get a small container of it, and start mixing with gatorade, take until finished. Will do the job!

You can dilute it more. It mitigates the horrible taste long as you can get enough that you're getting the desired effects you're okay. I didn't finish all my phosphosoda(which I recommend anyway as long as you don't get cherry).
