My daughter has been on IV prednisone for the last few days. 40mgs per day. Does anyone know if this differs in dosing from prednisone tablets? I've checked around the internet, and there seems to be a conversion. I'm not sure if I understand it correctly but 40mgs of Methylpred. = 50mgs of oral Pred. I hope I have this wrong, because I definitely didn't want her on that high of a dose.
My daughter was diagnosed Feb. 19/07, (13 yrs. old at time of diagnosis), with Crohn's of the Terminal Illium. Initially, 9 weeks of Prednisone, currently taking 2000mgs of Pentasa.

That is a pretty normal amount they usually start them on (orally). I don't know the conversion, but generally 40 to 50 mg is the norm. Good luck!!
