Hi all,

I am going to start Cimzia soon and was wondering how the people who take it are doing on it. This will be my first biologic drug, steroids are not working and I've got ulcers in my small intestine now. Happy holidays and thanks.

I'm not on it yet, but plan to try in the new year. It seems to me that it's an excellent choice as a first biologic... (I've burned through the others)

There are other threads that you can read from the "starting a new med" thread, but if you try, I'd love to hear how it goes! Best wishes!

Tsitodawg, I wonder if we have the same guy come to give the Cimzia shots... I think we're both in Utah. Anyway, I digress...

I've been on Cimzia for 19 days. I got my first shots on Dec. 4. I was lucky, in that it started to help me six days after the first shots. I got great CD symptom relief until two days before I was scheduled for my second set of shots. Those last two days before my second shots weren't fun at all. I got my second set of shots on Dec 18, fully expecting that it would take a week to see any benefit. The next day, I felt much better. Was down to only four BM's that weren't terribly crampy, down from 12 crampy ones the day before. Here it is five days later, and I'm pretty much back into remission. I'm down to 5 mg/day of prednisone, too.

I have had *very* mild (almost not even noticeable) side effects to the Cimzia. Just a touch of a headache a few hours after the shots.

Edit: Bluemeanies, please forgive my computer geekiness, but back in the early days of the Apple Macintosh computer, a "Blue Meany" was a member of the Macintosh development team, so named because they were being mean to "Big Blue", aka IBM. Any correlation between your name and those early Apple Mac guys?
Just trying to be a "Regular Member".

Entocort 9 mg/day, Prednisone 20 mg/day, started Humira 1/22/08, started 100 mg of Azasan (Imuran) 2/20/08. Increased Azasan to 150 mg 10/15/08. Discontinued Humira 11/03/08 after extreme fatigue and moderate muscle aches. Started Cimzia 12/4/08. Down to 5 mg/day of Pred now, and will continue to taper until completely off as long as the other meds keep me off the porcelain.

I'm convinced that Prednisone is the root of all evil, and primarily responsible for global warming.

I picked bluemeanies because the day I signed up I was feeling pretty blue and not plesant so bluemeanies popped in my head. Mostly due to the Beatles bluemeanies in Yellow Submarine.

I have no job or insurance and hope to get some help from cimplicity. I have spent a year of hell on prednisone and Entocort and my gi suggested Cimzia so I'm trying it.
