I have been on Humira for about 4 months now and have gained about 40 pounds
That would be great 3 years ago when I was 160 pounds, but I have ballooned to 250lbs
I work out 4 days a week (1 hour on an eliptical trainer), and I try to watch what I eat - But I do admit that I have been overeating
But still, I am as active as when I was 20, and still gaining weight.
Is this a common side effect for humira?

I have not noticed any weight gain at all while on Humira and I have been on it now for 8 months. I take weekly injection however instead of byweekly due to the Humira stopped working after 6 months at By weekly. I was also started on Methotrexate and I have actually been loosing weight quite rapidly I have lost 19 pounds in 2 weeks.

Thanks for the posting!!! I have been so frustrated with my weight gain over the past two years while taking Humira. I have always been underweight (even prior to Crohn's) and of course, was severely under weight in pass flare-ups. Since starting Humira, I have not been able to lose a pound. I have been eating super healthy, drinking lots of water with lemon, cucumber and ginger, walking daily and have not lost a pound. EEEEKKK!

been on it for over a year now.  At first I gained about 6 to 8 pounds...but that has since dropped off.  The only weight gain for me now is if I don't pass anything for a day or more.

But remember the mantra for all sufferers of crohns..."the disease and the treatments affect everyone differently"

dx IBS 1999   UC 2000   CD 2001
Tested BIOGEN TYSABRI (gave me 2 years of remission)
tried Naltrexone Jan. 19, 2007 Stopped the Naltrexone July 28th...started Humira Aug 31st, 2007...current dose one shot every week. Also nightly dose of mesalamine.
Surgery Nov 4th, 2008 removed 30 inches of small bowel.
Crohns is currently active and has been since April of 2005
