I have a scope scheduled for next week. My prep is to take 2 Bisacodyl tablets and then drink PEG 3350. What exactly are these 2 things. I have a pre-written Rx for the drink that I'll get next week, I'm assuming I can just ask the pharmacist for the tablets as well?

Rachael - 24 years old, diagnosed with CD in Dec. of 2004.

Currently on 40 mg of Prednisone, 2.4mg Lialda, and 100mg Azathioprine.

I thank God every day for an amazing support network of family, my boyfriend who has been there since the beginning, and my friends who never waver.

You can get the Bisacodyl tablets for cheap over the counter. Dulcolax is the brand name, but it's a lot more money then the generics. Wal-mart's Equate brand is the cheapest (of course). It's only $2 for a package of them. You can also find a generic at drugstores like CVS and Walgreens.

My New Gi told me to only take the Generic of Ducolax which I bought the walmart brand. The day before all clear liquids and then took 8 of the laxitives and that worked like a charm I was completely clean out.

Diag with Crohns of the colon May 1998 after birth of child in 2001 disease moved North and Left the colon. I now have Crohns of the Mouth all the way thru to the Colon. Currently on Remicade but not working so well that now meds are every 4 weeks at 1200mg. Chronic D 30-50 times daily with on and Off Joint pain and swelling of stomach when dose of meds wears off 2 weeks after infusion.

The last time I had a colonoscopy, I had to take 4 of the bisacoydl tablets and half of the tri-litley. Much better than drinking the whole freakin container!

Check with the pharmacist before buying anything- I did this prep a few weeks ago and the pills and powdered drink came together in one prescription.  You may not need to buy anything extra.
