Im being curious, so many people have different things they can or can't eat, so Im wondering what it is?
I CAN't eat: Black pepper, spices of any kind, nuts (including popcorn), meat (lunch, beef, chicken, pork, ANY meat really), whole grains, ice cream.
I CAN eat: Everything else, including fruits, vegetables, pasta, dairy (sparingly, no ice cream!), and most things though I never over indulge because more then likely I will get sick.

That's interesting that meat bothers you. Maybe you should try some alternative meats, like bison, ostrich, lamb, venison, etc. Sometimes people have an easier time with meats they've never consumed much of in the past.

I follow the Specific Carbohydrate Diet. No starch, gluten, lactose, or sugar. So far, it's working for me.

I can't eat any popcorn or nuts. More than 1/2 cup ice cream makes me sick. Too much wheat makes me sick as well - so I try to stay away from it.

I can eat most fruit and vegetables, meat, milk, cheese and yogurt.
Crohns almost 17 years. No surgeries. Currently taking Imuran and Entocort. Also take multivitamin/mineral supplement, omega -3 oil, calcium and vitamin D. Eat lots of yogurt. Limit wheat and gluten as much as I can.

I dont remember the last time I actually was ok with any food. Everything seems to bother me.

Right now Chicken, Rice, Potatoes, and yams are the only things that don't bother me. So frustrated at the moment because I just dont want to eat anything at all, but i get so hungry.

The big no no's are dairy, everything that has wheat, sauces, pickles, dressings, raw vegetables, red meats, processed foods, nuts, tomato products, and hot stuff. :(

I feel as if there is no point to eating for us. Just goes in one end and out the other with out little use. :(

I am lucky when it comes to food.  I only really have problems with dark chocolate, rich red meat, and more than a couple of bites of deep fried foods.  Other wise bring on the nuts, spice, raw veggies, ice cream, sushi, onions, broc, pepper and popcorn....
The biggest drawback is that I am a Culinary Institue grad and i love to cook....and I love to eat....BUT, from time to time my taster gives out and everything starts to taste wierd.  I have not had the mis-fortune of tatsing something and claiming it great only to find out it tastes bad....but many times I will tatse something and think it tatses horrible only to have my wife taste it and declare it delicous.  I would have thrown out dozens of recipes and tons of food if not for my wifes assurance that the food was perfect.  the same thing happens with wines...many will tatse horrible but the rest of the table raves about it.  It doesn't happen every day or even every week, but it happens often enough that I don't trust myself anymore when it comes to tasting.

What I can't eat?:
Ice cream, chocolate, hamburger, coffee, potatoes, broccoli, peas, fresh fruits or vegetables in general, bread with gluten/sugar/etc., sugar in general, rice, salsa, black pepper, curry, pork, ensure(seems to give me problems..), and so on.

Right now I am eating chicken cooked in olive oil with garlic powder and salt, Almond Nut-thin crackers, omelets with garlic powder, basil, shredded turkey, salt, and farmer's cheese, organic pomegranate lemonade, chicken broth, fish, these gluten/wheat free cinnamon muffins from Earth Fare, mashed bananas with yogurt, a SMALL amount of peanut butter, and honey to taste, and that is about it at the moment.

I'm not sure if it's the effects of prednisone, diet changes, or both, but I have noticed that eliminating refined sugar, wheat, gluten, most flours, high lactose dairy, and most starches has given a lot of improvement. I do miss bread, but I prefer to feel well :)

Wow, thanks everyone! I find it extremely fascinating how this disease although called "Crohn's" manages to effect everyone differntly. Thanks for sastisfying a curiousty!!!!!!
Gail- Yes to the b-12, no to the vit. as most pills seem to go right through me or manage to change the smell/colour of my urine. ick.
Daisy- nope, no meat at all. My favourite?? sweet and sour lamb chops....relegated to my birthday dinners only!! I tried to have some chicken/meat (hahaha) on my honeymoon in New Orleans, and spent 3 hours writhing in pain in the hotel room. It is really hard living in Alberta and having to say "no thanks" to meat.
hspenser- mmmm sushi, I luckily CAN eat sushi and do quite often, no wasabi of course.
Oh, and I think Slim Jims should be outlawed! LOL

For me, caffeine is a disaster. I love coffee, but can't drink it. Other caffeinated drinks that I can't tolerate are tea and cola. I know I can't drink coffee, but I've cheated a few times, and wound up with nearly instant diarrhea and (at least once) in the ER.

Crohn's since 1988
