I had an ileum resection a month ago and was wondering if there are any foods I should not eat to avoid a recurrence.  Thanks for the help

Well we are all pretty individual in what we can eat. I would suggest you keep a food diary to keep track of which foods agree with you and which ones upset you. I live on a low residue diet all the time. Easy to chew easy to digest. Some folks have success with either the SCD or Makers Diets. Some can't do these diets as the are very strict diets or the diets don't agree with them. Most of us have to stay away from things like Broccolli, cauliflower, nuts, seeds, popcorn, dairy products and some raw veggies. So keep the food diary to figure out what is best for YOU.

Good luck,

I'd suggest avoiding gluten, and maybe lactose as well. I'm on the Specific Carbohydrate Diet, which eliminates both of those, as well as sugar and starch. It sounds incredibly daunting, but it's really not that bad. I've been eating this way a little over two months, and it's become second nature at this point.

After I had my resection in 2001 my surgeon told me no pulpy citrus fruits... oranges, grapefruits... he said juice is fine, but not the actual fruit because the pulp could get stuck. Yikes! He also said not to overdo it on the salads.
