I just returned from a wonderful island vacation. I was really sick before I left, so I started Entocort again and it worked quickly, and within days I was feeling great. I felt really well the entire trip with just a few exceptions.

The day before I came back, I weened down on the Entocort as the doc said. The day I got back I was ok, but that night I was horribly sick. However, I was also tired from the long plane ride, I had just returned to work, and I had visited my husband's grandma in the hospital, which was emotional.

Then ever since Monday I have not felt great. Currently, my stress level is fine, but my stomach is back to its old ways despite being on a lower dose of Entocort. Plus the cold sores have returned and my legs are constantly achy. I am seeing my GI next week.

Does anyone else feel like they have a hard time knowing if what is going on is a Crohn's flare or just a normal reaction to stress? It's so hard for me to determine the difference. Or is it always Crohn's once you are diagnosed?

Thanks everyone!

Well, this disease is so unpredictable.... so it's hard to tell whether you're just having a bad day or couple of days... or the making of a flare.... Generally, I reserve judgement until after a couple of weeks... if I've had consistent problems after a couple of weeks, I figure I'm probably having a flare....
I think I am being picked on by life, sometimes. But's that okay. Life and I are good buddies... I know life doesn't mean no harm. It just is the way it is. I can accept that.

I find it difficult to know if it is Crohn's as well. Generally I figure if it doesn't go away in a few days it is Crohn's.

Sometimes it can be hard to tell. I agree with the above posters. I give it a few days to see how I feel, then make a judgement call from there..... I hope you feel better real soon! Blessings, Julie

its hard to tell for me.  sometimes i get symptoms where its very obvious...i will have urgency to go, blood, etc.

however more recently, my flares have started with joint pain that got worse each day...then fatigue that wouldnt go away no matter how much i rested...then general ill feeling followed by evening fevers...and finally diareha, cramping, blood and just feeling horrible.    The start of the flare(joint pain) until it showed it was the disease took a few weeks.  I guess thats how my body reacts these days to flare ups.

I like what sassy said... if it doesn't go away in a few days... seems to be a good rule of thumb.
