So i just got out of the hospital, i spent a week there.  They started me on IV steroids, and gave me Morphine for the pain.  i left the hospital a week ago now, and I have been on 60 mg. prednisone since, and trying to control the pain with tylenol.  Tylenol isnt really cutting it.  It sounds like I will be starting Remicade next week for my follow up.  But I still hurt, and I am incrediably tired.  How long does it take to bounce back from this kind of experience.  My boss wants to know when i will be back.  I took 2 weeks off, but is that enough?  This was my first hospital stay with the disease, ive only had crohns for 3 years now, and its never been this bad.  We are hoping that the new treatment will help with the joints, and my uvitis in my eyes.  Any advise on any tricks to make my stay at home easier, what do you guys use to be more comfortable when tylenol wears off.  And how long for recovery, I heard 3 recovery days per day in the hospital...Does this seem acurate?

Hi Did you have a blockage when in the hospital? Usually when I was in the hospital I had a blockage. Are you able to eat now? It is hard to know how long before you will be feeling up to working as you would probably need to be eating and have the pain levels better. Hope the pred. kicks in and helps.. where is your crohn's located? Best wishes for a healthier you gail

So sorry to hear you are suffering so. As a suggestion to help with the pain I use a heating pad. Putting a warm/hot compress on your gut really is soothing. I actually use a microwavable corn bag. You put it in the micro for 2-3 minutes and then lay it across your belly, really helps alot. Hope your meds kick in soon and you get feeling better too.

As for how much time off, it should be as much as is needed. No two flares are the same, so until you are comfortable going back I wouldn't push it.

Good luck,
