Hi everyone.  This is my first time posting.  I am undiagnosed at this point.  My symptoms were thought to be Crohn's related but my biospsies were negative--I'm not convinced.  I've had terminal ileitis and think I might going though it again.  I get pain in my mid-right side of my abdomen.  When I try a low-residue diet, it seems to get better.  I had been getting better and got cocky--yesterday I ate cashews and had a cheeseburger with a sesame seed bun.  This morning I woke up with bad stomach cramps, watery diarrhea and nausea.  Tylenol helped, but then I took pepto and felt really bad again.  The thing is, normally when I have my Crohn's like episodes, I only have really bad abdominal pain and constipation--not what I had today.  Could my symptoms today be Crohn's related as well?  Could this be a new development to my "issues"?  BTW, I do have another GI doc appointment soon, although have found them to be really unhelpful.  Any insight would be great.  Thanks!!!

(30 year old white female.  Mother and wife.  Undiagnosed, symptomatic off and on for 10 years, history of terminal ileitis, symptoms of IBD, mild Crohns)

welcome. you are in a great place with really nice people. how many tests have you had? I know the struggle of diagnosis (or un) as I have been back and forth with that. I try to focus on symptoms and feeling better and have given up on ever having a definitive answer. have you tried a pill cam? it sounds like your diet makes a big difference, so eat what you know agrees with you; it is worth it to feel ok. yp

Hi Welcome to Healing Well .. I follow low residue diet too and have for 2 years now ... I completely stay away from seeds ,nuts raw veggies ,corn and all those other things that go crunch.. As far as new symptoms go crohn's can certainly produce the D .. have you had a SBFT done ? lol gail

yogaprof: Thanks for your post. I really appreciate the support and am glad I found this site! I had a CT scan when I was diagnosed with terminal ileitis--it showed the inflammation of my intestine and also aggravated lymphnodes in the same area. After I recovered from that, I had a colonoscopy w/biopsies. The only result was internal hemorrhoids! When I see my GI doc, I'll mention a pill cam--thanks!

gachrons: Thank you as well! So can you ever have a little bit of salad greens or anything in moderation? Greens are my favorite! What's SBFT? Sorry, I'm learning the lingo!

So today it seems like my pain comes and goes. I'll feel terrible, take a nap and then feel much better--good enough to want that salmon I have marinating in the fridge. But I'm afraid to eat since my symptoms keep coming and going. I've been limiting myself to saltines and homemade chicken broth. Is it normal for the pain and D to be intermittent all day? Is there anything that I should eat before I go to bed? I'm worried about tomorrow--I have a 6 month old who needs me and I can't ask my husband to stay home from work again (even though he would!)

Thanks again everyone--I'm really really glad I found this site!

Hi Kileysmomma and welcome to Healingwell. As you have seen we have some wonderful and supportive folks on this forum all trying to live with this disease. I also live on a low res diet. And no salad greens are in my diet either. I eat alot fish, chicken and turkey. I try to keep my diet easy to chew, easy to digest. As gachrons said no crunchy stuff for me either.

Since you are feeling bad its best to stay on a very soft diet, maybe even a liquid diet until things quiet down. Its called bowel rest. When I am feeling bad I will just have things like broth, or a light chicken soup, toast. I would keep it really light until things quiet down. I agree with yogaprof that a pillcam might be what you need. This test sees areas that the colonoscopies can't reach. A SBFT is a small bowel follow thru. Its a good test, but I think the pill cam would be better right now.

I sure hope you can find some relief soon. Keep us posted on how you are doing.

Good luck,
Gail *Nanners*

Nanners: Thanks! Again, I'm so thankful that I found you guys! Just knowing I'm not alone and can discuss this with people who know more about it makes me feel 100 times better. Thanks for the diet suggestion--I had a feeling I should stick with a "liquid diet" but I got cocky once again and had a bite of my husdand's pork chop and a small bowl of angel hair with red sauce and parm cheese...I really hope I didn't make things worse! It's so hard to be good when I feel better! I guess I'll have to get used to it :)

Thanks again, and I'll be sure to keep you all posted!
