I am recovering from a bad flare and want to know how people judge that they are ready to go back to work. Since stress makes me worse, how do I know that I am ready to handle it? This is the first big flare up since my diagnosis in 2005. I have taken a week off before during bad patches, but I have been off for several weeks now. The bleeding has stopped and I am not having the desperate rushes to the loo, but I am really tired.

Give yourself as much time as you think you need. Going back too early will only set you back, or so I believe. I am out on disability right now because of a bad flare. Although I am feeling much better than I did, I know that if I went back to my old schedule right now that I would hinder my recovery and possibly end up right back where I started. You know your body best, so just listen to it.

It depends on how bad your flare has been and how you are feeling now. I totally agree with Kriss. Returning to early will probably make things worse. Speak with your doctor about how you are feeling and what your concerns are regarding your ability to go back to work. Good luck and I hope you feel better.

Is it possible to go back for 1/2 days at first to see how you handle it? Or maybe go back 2 days a week at first, then add more days as you tolerate the schedule?
