I realize this is a sensitive subject, but I know I can't be the only one that has had issues with Crohn's affecting their sex life.  I mean, sometimes this disease strikes at the most inopportune times, if you know what I mean.  And during times of a flare, I find my marriage suffering a little bit because I feel so crappy that I am snapping at my family which ultimately creates a problem in the bedroom.  Has anyone had the threat of an accident while intimate with someone?  Geez, this disease is relentless!! mad

Thank God I haven't had an accident while intimate and don't really remember any close calls... When I'm not feeling well my stomach and lower abdomen are in discomfort and hurt when touched; so I found myself just turning it down... Although that just leads to other problems because then she gets upset because 'I don't want her' no matter how many times I tell her I don't feel good.

I have never had an accident during, but who feels frisky when they feel like crap??? Luckily, I have a very understanding husband and I try to make it up to him on my good days.

Worst thing for me is when you decide to actually try and then you really feel like you have to pass gas but you have to sit there and try to hold it in. That can really ruin my mood. LOL. Anyone else have this problem?

I am single, and this totally affects my interest in dating. It's terrifying to think about trying to do something like this with someone new at this stage. I keep thinking after I get under control (LOL) I will try to date. But no way right now. In the past, before I got this bad again (years ago) in my last relationship, I would just avoid it at certain times. Sometimes it hurt but mostly not. And the worst even was passing gas... after the fact, thankfully! We just laughed at that. "gotta love Crohn's" I said.

I hope one day to be able to return to dating and have a healthy (emotionally at least) relationship! I miss sharing with someone and the all around intimacy. It gets lonely but on the flip side, it allows me to focus on my daughter. That's special too!

Wow... Glad to see I'm the only guy to talk about it ; ) Beginning dating is probably the the worst, having the gas build up and not wanting to let it loose... whoo... We know how it smells, and the first time alone with someone the last thing you want is to pass gas...

Ive totally been there, right in the middle of it and I could feel a bubble building up in my tummy.  Totally ruins the mood, and all I can concentrate on is not letting one loose. Ughs!  I try to make it a point to go to the bathroom right before I know something is about to happen, OR if its starting to get a little hot and heavy, I'll just be like,  "I gotta pee brb!" and my boyfriend is usually all worked up and ready by the time I get back.

Definitely been there, luckily hubby is totally understanding and when I tell him to stop he knows that means a fart is lurking, so we're kinda just frozen until it passes (and I don't mean out my butt) then we continue and I usually let out a little burp and he always say's "thank god it came back out the other end (my mouth) and you can fguess the rest LOL.
There was only one time that we had to actually stop all together cuz I knew it wasn't just a fart lurking, now that really kills the mood.
My bum is broken....there's a big crack down the middle of it! LOL :)

We could all alternately make our significant others wear gas masks in the bedroom. Then they would never know!! lol. Even worse is during oral sex when their face is right there. I've always mananged to hold it in, but I can just imagine what a mood killer it would be if I didn't.

When I was first diagnosed 4 years ago I was with a gal that was with me before I fell ill. This relationship was good and she understood me and the disease well. After we split, not due to the illness, but Im sure that it didnt help, I have dated but found it very hard for anybody else to understand. I have now came to the point where I figure it is easier not to let anybody in because it just seems exhausting to try to explain the disease and also the sexual issues. I figure if i ever get better ( haha) , then I will try and salvage a life, including a sex life. I just dont have the energy or the desire to put into anybody else right now.
