People at my office have been doing a dieting challenge. Some of them have been doing various types of cleanses including just fruit and veg programs or more complex with pills, etc. I've been in remission for over four years after my first and only attack which lasted 1.5yrs before calming down. At that time I got way too skinny so I've been less worried about having more weight now than I'd like.

However, I've recently decided to trim down a bit more and wonder about the dangers associated with any type of dietary cleanses. I don't like the idea of messing with my intestinal tract in case it knocks me out of remission.

Anyone have any experience or advice around this?

I am not into the cleansing diets.  But almost 2 weeks ago I started the Hilton Head Metabolism diet.   And I have lost 7 pounds already.   It's tough...he tells you exactly what to eat, so you don't have alot of flexability, but the people I know who have done it have not gained the weight back once they resumed eating normally again....but let me add this....if you go back to eating bad and too much you obviously will.  But his theory is, if you continue to eat well balanced meals and exercise you won't.   Which is the way we should be eating anyways.  I am in remission and have not had any issues with my crohns on this diet.  I feel awesome and have tons of energy.
