I had my 4 month check up last week with my gastro doc, n he discussed my lab work that was done a week in advance of my appointment. I was jus wondering if its normal for new things to show up in your blood that wasnt there before surgery. My doc said that it was  normal and things would get better. Any way my hemoglobin is still low n is like an 8.6 and my phospates are rising so he put me one calcium. He also pescribe that ferrous sulfate elixir again, which constipates me. Even though since surgery, i have hd no symptoms of crohn's and have picked up nearly thirty pounds. There was this one time about two weeks ago where i got bloated n my stomach was killing me n another time was when i woked up one morning and if felt like I had electricity running through my gut, I got a little naseauated with it but it quickly subsided. I was just wondering about this, n checking up on everyone. Oh yeah n i have a major addiction to eating ice now it weird. confused

Wow, your hemoglobin is pretty dang low! Have you asked about getting iron infusions? Then you can bypass the gut and the side effects of iron pills. I wonder where iron is absorbed in the gut? Since you had a resection, maybe it compromised your ability to absorb iron? Anyone know?

If you have to take the pills, look into chelated iron. It's supposed to be a lot easier on the system.

Oh, and craving ice is a symptom of iron deficiency!

It's great to see a post from you! I was wondering how you've been. As Spookyhurst stated, eating/craving ice is a symptom of iron deficieny. I am gad to hear you are doing so well!! I don't have an answer about what iron supplement would be best for you..... Blessings, Julie
