Does anyone else wipe their backside after only peeing? I tend to do this and have noticed the last day or so pink on the toliet paper after wiping even though my bowels have not moved. Does anyone else have this issue? It does not seem like I should be overly concerned about it since it is not leaking out or anything. Does anyone have thoughts? Thanks for reading.

I wipe there, too. Figure I'm "in-the-area" and everything could always use a pat-down to make sure no moisture is there. I believe the little blood smears are because your anus is relaxed after you've 'gone' and will allow some rectum-residue on the TP, but not leak during normal activity between bathroom visits.

Crohn's and UC are pretty darn crappy, but if you can't laugh at yourself, you'll cry......I'd much rather laugh.
2001 Dx'd with UC.  No remission.  No improvement with Remicade.  5/2008 surgery, removal of 6" of left side colon.  Dx changed to Crohn's.  Remission for 8-9wks after surgery, symptoms returned after resuming 6MP.  Changed maintenance med to Methotrexate (MTX) and had great results with IM injections.  Nausea and symptoms returning with oral MTX.  Switched back to IM injections and am slowly improving.

I agree with SilvAnniv. One suggestion that has really helped me is to switch to wet wipes. I dry myself with TP after I pee, and then wipe everything with a wet wipe (I use the cheap ones from Walmart) and then pat dry instead of wiping again. This has the added bonus of keeping you smelling fresh. It has helped me a great deal as far as the inevitable "tenderness" in the area. The only precaution I have is if your prone to bladder infections (which I am) you want to stay away from the urethra with the wet wipe, just leave a margin around the area.

Um don't wet wipes say not to use as a baby wipe?

I think she means "wet wipe" as a generic term, not as in the name brand wet wipe used to wash your hands after eating lobster or something. Just like I say "hand me a kleenex" even if I have a box of target "tissue" on the table.
27 Year old married female law student (last year!!). Diagnosed w/ CD 4 years ago, IBS for over 10 years before that, which was probably the CD. I am sort of lactose intollerant too but can handle anything cultured and do well w/ lactose pills and lactaid. For crohns I am currently on Pentasa 4 pills/4x day and hysociamine prn. I also have bad acid reflux and have been on PPI's since age 13. I have been through prilosec, prevacid, and nexium. Currently I am on Protonix in the morning and Zantac at night.  I take xanax prn for situational anxiety (aka no easy bathroom access).

Goshes! You have TISSUE at your house, Fitzy?? All I have had for years is nice, soft, TP for both nose and bottom! I even keep a roll in the car - for my drippy nose.
