Whew. I am breathing a sigh of relief. I have been agonizing for nearly two weeks about possibly being pregnant. Not because I don't believe a child is a wonderful blessing. I do. And I've been fortunate enough to have been blessed with two children, ages 8 and 2. But I've had an X-ray, MRI, small bowel study and colonoscopy with a sedative and been taking a daily NSAID plus herbs in the last two months because of this DD. Not to mention continuing to take birth control pills. Had I been pregnant, there's no telling how many unhealthy things this child would've been exposed to in utero. I was really stressing! And though my gut isn't bothering me now, I have had persistent arthritis that has made it difficult to get around and care for myself and my family. Who knows what stresses a pregnancy and caring for a newborn would bring? And what if I had to go on one of the biologics or another heavy duty drug while pregnant. (I know that some moms do this) My GI said the Crohn's may be affecting the way my birth control pill is being absorbed. She has suggested that I switch to an IUD, which I never would've considered before, but she made a compelling case for it, especially in the case of Crohn's. This DD is so frustrating. I wish it weren't even a part of my family-planning decisions, but as usual, it is! Just needed to talk it out! The anxiety these last few weeks had really taken hold. I can now wipe one worry off my plate and take care of the others. Thanks for listening.

It is the best feeling in the world when you are worried you are preggo and your period finally comes!! I totally understand.
27 Year old married female law student (last year!!). Diagnosed w/ CD 4 years ago, IBS for over 10 years before that, which was probably the CD. I am sort of lactose intollerant too but can handle anything cultured and do well w/ lactose pills and lactaid. For crohns I am currently on Pentasa 4 pills/4x day and hysociamine prn. I also have bad acid reflux and have been on PPI's since age 13. I have been through prilosec, prevacid, and nexium. Currently I am on Protonix in the morning and Zantac at night.  I take xanax prn for situational anxiety (aka no easy bathroom access).

I'm happy that you're happy!! :)
Crohn's Disease.
Diagnosed 13+ years ago.
Been in remission for short periods of time but each time I come out of remission my disease seems to have spread.  No longer isolated in my ileum, now from stomach down to rectum.
Current Medications for the Crohns:  Humera 40mg injections every other week, Imuran 150mg, Levsin, Welchol 625mg, Prednisone 10mg(started weaning off, now going back up in dosing).Canesa suppositories, Calcium, Acidophilus & Potassium
Misc:  I recently joined a local crohns disease support group that meets monthly.  It has been great talking to and meeting other people who share the same disease.  I hope to continue gaining insight through this forum as well.

My period still hasn't returned, but the last pregnancy test confirmed I'm not pregnant! It would not be such an issue if I didn't already have Crohn's, arthritis and two kids who already need me.
