Hi guys I hope you are all well

My ‘tummy’ symptoms have been pretty good of late, while I’ve been dealing with this abscess/fistula and fissure situation which is taking forever to heal. But yesterday after I ate lunch I almost immediately got this cramping feeling in a really specific area – my lower left abdomen, near my hip, in an area about the size of my fist. The pain went on all afternoon, and was like a burning crampy feeling. I was sooo bloated all of yesterday and am still looking pregnant, the area is really hard.

Has anyone else had this specific type of pain? The area hurt a little when my GI pushed on it at my last appointment, but nothing like this. I have a bowel MRI and a pelvis MRI coming up so hopefully they will show up anything that’s happening there. I am on the list for remicade so I am hoping this will bring down inflammation – just wondering what this pain in this very specific place could be and if anyone else has had it too.

Thanks all!

Hmmm. It could just be that you ate the wrong sort of food and are paying for it. It could also be a stricture or blockage, or maybe even an abdominal abscess.

I think that you should call your doctor if the pain persists... and if it gets worse, it might be a good idea to go to the E.R.

This is just my 2c, though; maybe other members will have different ideas.

Hang in there,

Yeah it's strange! the bloating is weird. Anyway, I hope it was just too many mandarins that did it. It's not hurting now, I'm just really bloated. I just ate some pea and ham soup for an early lunch, so we'll see how it goes....

The IBD nurse just called me and asked if I am getting regular blood work - apparently this should be happening once you start 6MP but I haven't had any - strange!

Maybe if the bloating doesn't go down I should go onto a liquid diet for a few days to rest it....
