Starting feeling bad again about a month and a half ago and never got better (started feeling a bit worse) so I scheduled an appt with my GI... He had  me start on 40mg of pred and taper off 10 each week so i started that yesterday.  I normally have 2-3 bm a day, however I've only had about 3 this week (very odd for me, almost prefer to be in the bathroom more)...  So, needlessly to say I don't have any d, just been kinda stopped up with abdominal pain.  I was thinking of hitting up a liquid diet for a couple days to ease my bowels but not exactly sure what to be drinking.  I know it will be hard once the hunger kicks in but I wouldnt mind trying it.

Would drinks like Slim Fast and Ensure be alright?  I don't normally drink soda but I would think the carbonation would help me feel full... And juices and V8?

I would suggest drinks like ensure and boost to make sure you get some nutrition while you are on the liquid diet. I like to freeze my ensures for about 1-2 hours so they are kind of like a slushy (taste better to me that way) Chicken and beef stock are good as well. You can also do stuff like jello and water ice but it may be a good idea to watch the sugar intake.

Ontop of Ensure and those types of drinks I always like to add Gatorade or Powerade...in moderation of course because of the sugar content. I THINK the light powerades and gator have no sugar or have a subsitute of some sort. I lived on G2 for a couple weeks when food just wasnt agreeing with me. I hope you feel better!

Definetly try drinking Ensure or Boost so that you can get the nutriton that your body needs. Try drinking coffee, that usually makes me go the bathroom.

I would drink the Ensure and Boost as at least you will get your nutrients in there. I agree with Veebo too I do well with chicken broth, slushies, Pedialyte. I drink Gatorade all the time. Some folks will tell you their not good because of the sugar, but my GI told me when I can't keep anything down to take a sip of Gatorade every 5 minutes. Also, I suffer with C and not D. I take stool softners everynight to keep things moving daily for me. If I don't one night I am in a world of hurt the next day. Good luck!

Ensure is perfect. You can survive off the stuff. I wouldn't suggest that is all you have, but you could live off of it, and doing it for a few days alone would make anyone feel better, sick or not.

I have notice the regular juices can have a laxitive effect for me too, but then again so does artifical sweetner.

When I did liquids for awhile to rest some very inflammed bowels..I did mostly meal replacement shakes..I did not tolerate juices too well..I then graduated to baby food and ice cream to low residue..I did rely on sprite for nausea with peppermint in it..

Thanks... Did a two day break and had a little sometihng to eat last night and ate lightly today and feel pretty well... Thankfully the pred didn't make me as hungry as it did the last time I was on it (not yet anyway). Trying to chew up my food a lot more and not wolf it down like I normally do.
