Hi everyone.

It's been a while since I've posted. I've been busy with work, but also feeling so much better. The Imuran seems to be doing wonders for me. Plus, my doctor prescribed me Hylomax for when it feels like I am having an IBS attack and it's my new lifesaver.

For the past two months, I have had pain in my left lower rib cage. about 3 months ago, I was diagnosed with pleurisy (an inflammation of the lung lining), which is a condition that people with auto-immune disorders often get. I was treated for it and I have no cough, trouble breathing and the pain is much better.

However, there is still pain there. I have a constant tight feeling like someone is pressing down on my lung in a particular area, and even advil doesn't get rid of this feeling. Then, if I sneeze, do sit ups or anything athletic, the pain is very intense and radiates up.

I am going for a Cat Scan on Monday b/c my doc said this does not sound typical for pleurisy. I know Imuran can impact the pancreas, and I have not had blood work in the past 3 months. My question is, for those of you who had Imuran or 6MP impact your pancreas, was the pain intense all of the time or was it anything like I am explaining? I guess I'll find out what this is soon, but I can't help but be slightly nervous.

I have heard that the pain is more in the middle than to the left, kind of like obstructive pain. Towards the belly button. But I could be wrong. Dunny has been battling chronic pancreaitis, so hopefully she will see this and respond.   Oh and I heard that left sided pain usually is related to the colon.  But again I could be wrong.  I hope they figure out whats going on with you. Good luck!

I don't take Imuran, but I was hospitalized in Feb. for acute pancreatitis. The pain was the worst I've ever felt & was intense constantly. I was admitted to the hospital the morning after the pain started, and remained there for almost 2 weeks. It took some time and serious pain meds in the hospital before the pain subsided. The pain continued after I returned home, but was much more manageable. I'd say it took about a month before the pain was totally gone. My pain was in my mid-right side, below the rib cage.
Current Medications:

Pentssa, 1000 mg od
Vitamin D
Red Yeast Rice
Calcium/Magnesium Supplement
Nature's Way Primadophilus Bifidus Probiotic
Remicade infusion; every 8 weeks
Ambien, PRN
Seasilver Whole Food Liquid Nutrition

My chest CT Scan was negative for any lung/heart problems. I am going to give the pain another month before agreeing to anymore testing, especially since my blood work is fine. Maybe it'll just go away on its own.

And I did more research and it does look like pancreatic pain is more centered; my pain is in the very lower left area of my rib cage.

Thanks again.

As mentioned the pancreas could be affected but I know GERD and ulcers are common in that area. Have you been checked for them?
I hope you can find out what it is soon as it must be a worry.

Good luck
