Oh, no! My heart breaks for you, reading this. What a horrible, horrible ordeal you, your sister, and your family have been through.

There are no words to say how sorry I am - especially as it sounds as if her death may have been avoidable - but please know that we care and are here to listen and support you at this very sad time.

I am so sorry that you lost your sister!  I am praying that comfort and grace will be given to you and your family.

And thank you for reminding us that we really need to be careful around those who are sick.  I know I become complacent and need to be reminded.

Take care.

I am so sorry for your loss. People laugh when I step away when someone is sick, but this is a true reminder that we need to be careful who we are around and do our best to not catch this nasty bug.

My prayers are that you and your family will find peace.

You are always welcome back here. Thank you for the wake up call. I too had been taking this very lightly and thinking the media had blown it out of proportion. How tragic. I hope the rest of your family is cleared.
27 Year old married female law student (last year!!). Diagnosed w/ CD 4 years ago, IBS for over 10 years before that, which was probably the CD. I am sort of lactose intollerant too but can handle anything cultured and do well w/ lactose pills and lactaid. For crohns I am currently on Pentasa 4 pills/4x day and hysociamine prn. I also have bad acid reflux and have been on PPI's since age 13. I have been through prilosec, prevacid, and nexium. Currently I am on Protonix in the morning and Zantac at night.  I take xanax prn for situational anxiety (aka no easy bathroom access).

I am really pained to hear about the loss of your sister. My heart felt condolences for you. I know it is difficult to make up this loss of life, but we have to move on and ensure that such tragedies do not happen on account of insurance cover, and lack of humanitarian approach on the part of doctors.

I am so sorry to hear about your sister, that is just truely heartbreaking. A good reminder for us all to be extra careful around anyone that seems sick. This flu seems to be able to cause more serious complications then the regular flu.

I know that you are probably tired of hearing this, but I am so so so sorry for the loss of your sister... It could have been prevented, I feel bad because I live in ontario, and as you know we do have health coverage for now,
I find that doctors and nurses, they just dont care anymore, like they did when I was a little girl, they just say things to shut you up!
It's really ridiculous and im sad to say, that.
My heart and thoughts are with you and your family, and again Im so sorry:(
take care of yourself, and thanks for the eye opener, im sure you werent the only one who was taking this flu lightly.....

      shocked shakehead shakehead
My condolences, I am forced to deal with the public all the time & handle money. I make sure I wash my hands constantly now. I hate that I find myself cringing when someone coughs these days, but after two years of ineffectual flu vacinations I just don't even want a mild case of the normal flu. Plus, the bills from the usual bronchitis attack following a flu bug..
I wish I could take your pain away, but this backs up what I said in the past, people are too blase' about these viruses..
     Sincerely yours,

how devastating. thank you so much for sharing your story with us. i am scared of catching swine flu, i believe we have had 6 deaths in massachusetts. i am sick of people taking it so lightly, almost in a joking fashion so i remind them i could die from it. i mean, i am not changing my life and going out to public places but i am even more ocd about hand washing and hand sanitizing. with that said, my sincerest condolences to you and your family. if the hospital had taken better care of her could she have survived this? it's appalling she was practically thrown out of the hospital when she was so critically ill.

take care.
