I am just curious about how often your GI recommends colonoscopies? My doc says for me (mild Crohn's disease) I should go every 3-4 years, unless I am having severe symptoms. What about the rest of you?

I went through a period of time where I had about 10 in a year or so, and most of those had endoscopies as well. I was having a lot of trouble and they couldn't figure out why. I have now been having them about once every 18 months or so. But I saw my doctor in May and thought for sure he would order one since I have gradually been feeling a bit worse over time, nothing major, just a little bit of increase in symptoms. But since all my blood work seems fine, he doesn't want to do any further testing. Not sure if I'm OK with this or not. I did see him just a few days after his wife had a baby so maybe he was off his game.

CD 20 years officially, 30 unofficially. 3 resections '93, '95 '97
Managing with strict low residue diet, keeping symptoms to a minimum. All test show small amount of ulceration, still have occasional blockages. But still have a great time with my 2 daughters and husband!

my GI said every 3 years unless something warranted it. this seems to the norm from what i have heard from others about the frequency of colonoscopies.

My GI explained that at first it's ok to do them 3 or so years apart, then once you've had CD for over 10 years you should have them yearly. She lets me go closer to a year and a half to 2 years as long as I'm not having symptoms or obstructions.

It was every 2 years, but the last 2 looked good so 3-5 before the next one (unless something changes).
